One day a month, could you spare that time to help the community?

WE WILL BE STARTING OUR ONE DAY A MONTH CAMPAIGN TO TRY TO REVIVE CPR VERY SHORTLY. CONDADO,S VOLUNTARY MEDICAL SCHEME.

NEIL WAS CALLED OUT LAST WEEK ON A CPR CALL.
THIS COULD NOT BE IGNORED AS THE GENTLEMAN HAD FALLEN CRACKED HIS HEAD ON THE KERB AND WAS BLEEDING VERY BADLY.

NEIL WITH THE AID OF A FRIEND WAS ABLE TO CONTAIN THE FLOW OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD INJURY BEFORE THE AMBULANCE ARRIVED. SECURITY WERE INVOLVED AND WERE VERY HELPFUL AS ALWAYS.

THE GENTLEMAN WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL WITH A VERY SERIOUS HEAD INJURY.

WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK NEIL AND ALL INVOLVED.

PLEASE THINK WHEN WE START OUR CAMPAIGN IF YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP ONE DAY A MONTH TO HAVE THIS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY.

IF WE AS A COMMUNITY CANNOT FIND ENOUGH PEOPLE TO DONATE ONE DAY A MONTH, AS A COMMUNITY WE HAVE FAILED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF YOUR LOVED ONES, HUSBAND, WIFE, CHILD PARENT. WE NEED YOU.

WATCH THIS SPACE.

Moving forward.

During the Summer, due to the non-availability of responders, unfortunately CPR’s valuable emergency service had to be suspended. The current committee have not given up and are still committed to provide Condado with an emergency medical service.

At the meeting on the 7th September several volunteers came forward and the future of CPR was discussed with some positive ideas put forward. Now as the temperatures of the summer cool, the current committee are re-focusing and are planning to put a campaign together aimed at re-launching CPR, if the required number of volunteers come forward.

Please continue to follow our postings about the campaign on the website and our Facebook page for up to date information.

The commitee hope to host a community get together at the end of November or the beginning of December but there will be plenty of behind the scenes activity leading up to this, if you are able to help in anyway please do not hesitate to let us know.

Thank you as always for your support and all the continued interest in reviving CPR.

Lynn Simpson
President of CPR

We need Professionals to help us

Condado Primary Response is a charity and relies on volunteers and we are always looking for people to join us as Responders or as Buddies but we also need help in management.

We need new volunteers and in particular professionals who would like to contribute their knowledge and skills to the Condado community.

Obviously it would be best suited to people who are residents on Condado but if we get enough people then the responsibilities can be shared and if you are only here for a few months a year you can still contribute.

We are looking for people with these skills

Medical

Sales/Marketing

I T Skills

Finance

Fund Raising

Administration

If you have the skills then you can help us make big strides forward, we need your help to reinvigorate our image.

We are only looking for a commitment of a few hours every month.

If you think you can contribute please contact us @

Condado Primary Response AGM 21st April 2015

The 3rd AGM of the charity Condao Primary Response was held at the Condado Club, Condado de Alhama on the 21st April 2015.

The current President Lynn Simpson addressed the gathering.

CONDADO PRIMARY RESPONSE AGM  PRESIDENTS ADDRESS

This year we have raised money by raffles, sold donated goods and worked hard to raise funds for CPR. These events include the Valentines Day Raffle, The signed football strips to mention a few.

We have introduced the Buddy System and produced the CPR guide to Condado and continued to raise awareness of CPR through leaflets, notices around the pool areas and in the lifts of the penthouses.  A big thanks to all our sponsors and everybody who has helped to raise money for CPR.

In March 2014 we trained 6 new responders to join the existing responders to offer a 24/7 service  and answering a total of 23 call outs between March 2014 to February 2015.  During this time several of our responders have resigned so unfortunately we had to suspend the promise of a 24/7 call out service at the end of October 2014 and offer a telephone service when a responder was not available.

We all felt we could ask no more of our volunteers than to give 24 hours of their time per week. This months we have just trained a further 6 more volunteers to become responders and we welcome them on board. We also managed to persuade Pepe one of our own security guards to fill one of the slots not taken. Roger also took the course as a refresher and he has been an invaluable member of the responders, but this still leaves us only 9 responders for the summer  period and this is simply not enough.  Not only do we lack volunteers for Responders we do not have enough buddies or committee  members.  With the current level of volunteers we can only promise to provide the current service until September 2015, which will still be restricted on occasions to a telephone service. We cannot continue the service with the current level of support from the community, and this is a sad state of affairs.

CPR DOES NOT LACK FUNDS IT LACKS ENTHUSIASM FROM OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY , AND I STILL CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY WE DO NOT HAVE 31 PEOPLE ON SITE FROM OVER 400 PERMANENT RESIDENTS WHO ARE NOT WILLING TO OFFER 1 DAY A MONTH TO KEEP THIS VALUABLE SERVICE ALIVE. WE ALL HAVE LOVED ONES WE SHOULD ALL CARE.

I would like to thank ELIZA, NEIL, EDDIE, ROGER, AUDREY and DONNA who have stood by CPR for a long period of time and TO THIS WORTHY CAUSE.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK ALL THE RESPONDERS THE BUDDIES AND THE COMMITTEE FOR THEIR SERVICE WITH OUT ALL OF THEM WE WOULD NOT HAVE SURVIVED.

Lynn Simpson

CPR fund raising weekend 27th–30th March

The big week-end to raise funds for CPR is fast approaching.  Here on Condado we are all getting excited about the events.  Just to remind you if you haven’t got tickets, Lets Rock Condado is at Big G’s on Friday 27th March, the Caribbean Cruise party is at the Condado Club on Saturday 28th March and Get Ready to Boogie is at the Clover on Sunday 29th March 2015 from 8 – late with Nigel Burchell and Karen Burton.

The night at the Clover will include a free lucky ticket for a prize and at 10 pm there will be an Auction with all proceeds going to CPR.  Here are some of the items that will be auctioned :-

  • 3 Large bottles of rum
  • 8 x Large golfing umbrellas
  • Personally signed photos of: Jack Nichlaus & Tiger Woods and one of Miguel Angel Jimenez
  • Green fees being donated by IRM.

There does seem to be a bit of a golfing theme going on but I can promise non-golfers there will be items to interest them in the auction.  These will be confirmed in a few days time.

Thanks to everybody involved in this exciting fund-raising venture.  I’m sure it will be a great success.
